Actress Who Sued Over Age Reveals Herself
Last fall, media outlets went crazy over a supposed “mystery actress” who was suing IMDB for revealing her age on the database website. At Project Lawsuit Abuse, we were curious to find out who the litigious leading lady would be. However, when the news was released in the beginning of January, it was a surprise twist that none of us saw coming.
In her legal papers, the actress revealed herself to be Junie Hoang. Hoang, who is 40 years old, is suing IMDB for over $1 million for revealing her age, claiming it made it difficult for her to get young roles.
In the lawsuit, Hoang states that “lesser-known 40-year-old actresses are not in demand in the movie business.” Forgive us a pun, but any wrinkles Hoang had must have been a fine print indicator of her actual age.
Wondering why you haven’t heard of this actress before? According to the Telegraph, Hoang previously appeared in low budget films such as "Gingerdead Man 3: Saturday Night Cleaver," "Hoodrats 2: Hoodrat Warriors," and as nurse in the television show, “I Didn’t Know I Was Pregnant.”
This lawsuit sounds scarier than a c-list thriller to us. Perhaps Hoang was trying to use a lawsuit to receive media attention and help her failing movie career?
We’ve heard of lawsuits for wedding photos or even breakfast, but filing a lawsuit to try to become famous is another way of clogging up our legal system, and that’s a rerun we’ve seen one too many times.
