Assemblymember Halderman and CA CALA Join Forces to Fight Frivolous Lawsuits

At a press conference in California today, Assemblymember Linda Halderman – partnering with California Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse – announced Assembly Bill 20, legislation aimed at curtailing frivolous construction defect lawsuits.

According to The Business Journal, “AB 20 aims to inform homeowners about the effects of filing blanket lawsuits concerning the quality of their home, as well as protect homebuilders.” A recent increase in class action lawsuits over construction defects in homes has held the housing industry back from recovering from the economic downturn.

These bad lawsuits are costing good jobs. Let’s hope other rally behind this legislation.
