Sue-Your-Boss Hotline

The Obama administration recently announced the creation of a program that is tantamount to a lawsuit referral service, which will direct employees to lawyers who will help them sue their bosses.

About 40,000 workers contact the Department of Labor with complaints about their bosses every year. The department is unable to return about 10 percent of those calls due to budget constraints. So instead of providing more funding, the White House has announced a service that will forward "unresolved complainants" to a lawyer referral service sponsored by the American Bar Association.

Why is the federal government in the business of using our tax dollars to operate a lawsuit referral service to help personal injury lawyers make more money? Our government should be focused on creating jobs rather than helping to encourage more lawsuits against employers.

Creating this "sue-your-boss" lawsuit hotline only serves to give a federal seal of approval for more job-killing lawsuits. This is hardly the message we should be sending businesses during a time of high unemployment.

I was for many years a very strong opponent against ridiculous lawsuits against companies, doctors, businesses etc, until I became a victim of a fortune 100 company who wrongly terminated me because I reported unethical behaviors occuring inside.  Instead of protecting my rights, the company violated their own policies and then dug up some B.S. and false alligations...I had no right to rebut anything they accused me of.  The worse part, they did nothing to the manager who violated company policies.  So, when wrong is done to innocent people I agree.  Sometimes when power and $$$ is too big for their own britches, paybacks are due.
