Help Louisiana Lawsuit Abuse Watch Choose the Craziest Lawsuit of 2011!

Our friends over at Louisiana Lawsuit Abuse Watch recently launched a contest encouraging folks to vote on the most outrageous Louisiana lawsuit. Don’t’ live in Louisiana? Don’t worry, you’re still welcome to join in on the fun.

Check out some of the nominees:

• In Opelousas, a man broke the lock and jerry-rigged a gas connection to his home after it was cut off due to non-payment. His home exploded the next day, then he turned around and sued his gas company for more than $15 million.

• In Abbeville, a woman who admitted to taking Lortab and Xanex before going shopping, ran over her own foot with a shopping cart after being startled by an alleged encounter with a baby nutria. Now she's suing Wal-Mart for millions, seeking damages for damages for pain, suffering, mental anguish, fear, disabling injuries, and past, present and future medical expenses.

• In Baton Rouge, a man claims he suffered terrifying hallucinations after smoking a product labeled "potpourri/incense" and is suing the owners of the convenience store where he made the purchase. Despite the fact that the incense was clearly labeled as "not for human consumption," the man contends the incense was "unreasonably dangerous" and "inadequate in its instructions and/or warnings."
