A Magically Litigious Breakfast

Think Trix are for kids?  More like “frivolous lawsuits are for rich trial lawyers,” in this latest installment of ridiculous lawsuits closing up our nation’s court system.  Hope you’ve had your coffee already, because today’s post concerns a lawsuit over breakfast.

According to the New York Times, Richard J. Katz, a trial lawyer who runs his own law firm specializing in personal injury suits, is filing his own lawsuit against his Wall Street gym, the Setai Club & Spa, for not providing a full, hot breakfast for him every morning.

The reality?  The sports club stopped serving a full hot breakfast with “omelets, pancakes, waffles, yogurts, meats,” and instead started serving a cold buffet.

The Setai club tried to solve the problem with the natural solution—letting Katz quit and giving him a prorated refund.  However, in the New York Post, Katz said, “It’s just not that easy.”

Instead, Katz is pulling this breakfast saga through our legal system.  He must really value his breakfast, because he’s suing for $730,000.  That’s right—this man values his breakfast for a year at over half a million dollars!  Of course, this money means a lot to Katz, who already spends $5,000 annually just to belong to his ritzy gym in the first place.

If Katz is trying to portray his profession in a positive light, crying over a luxury breakfast probably isn’t the way to do so in our opinion.
