Shocking: Head of Personal Injury Bar Thinks Legal Climate is Just Fine
Michael J. Romano, the new leader of the personal injury bar in West Virginia, seems to think that West Virginia’s ailing economy and struggling legal system have less to do with the frivolous lawsuits and clogged courts and more to do with the state's mountainous terrain.
West Virginia Citizens Against Lawsuit Abuse’s Richie Heath recently wrote an article for the West Virginia Record and shared his views on the situation:
If geography is the chief factor deterring West Virginia's economic development, then why isn't the state of Colorado suffering a similar fate? With its own mountainous terrain, Colorado recently ranked as the third best state for business in CNBC's annual rankings. Colorado's success is aided by having the fourth best legal & regulatory frameworks in the nation.
The state’s personal injury bar is only profiting off of West Virginia’s broken legal system. As Heath mentions, Romano’s point of view contradicts reputable business rankings from Forbes Magazine, U.S. News & World Report, and CNBC. So sure – go ahead and believe the head of the personal injury bar in the state with the worst legal climate in the country. Why would he have a reason to lie?
